Heilongjiang University of traditional Chinese medicine was founded in 1954. After more than 60 years of construction and development, the university has become a higher institution of traditional Chinese medicine with a high level of teaching, scientific research and medical treatment, which has a certain impact at home and abroad. In 2004, the University was among the first batch to obtain the excellent conclusion of the undergraduate teaching level evaluation of the Ministry of education. The first hospital affiliated to the University (the first clinical medical college and nursing college) is the construction unit of the national clinical research base of traditional Chinese medicine, the national demonstration Hospital of traditional Chinese medicine, the national treatment base of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine for major epidemics, and the standardized training base for the first batch of traditional Chinese medicine residents and general practitioners of the State Administration of traditional Chinese medicine. The Second Affiliated Hospital (the second Academy of clinical medicine, the Academy of acupuncture and massage, and the Academy of rehabilitation medicine) is the first hospital of traditional Chinese medicine in Heilongjiang Province to be recognized by the National Institute for clinical trials of drugs, and is one of the first construction units of modern traditional Chinese medicine hospitals in China.
